Jake went to Portland
Nothing in his pocket
Half a tank of gas
A couple of tapes for the stereo
And his girlfriend and all her stuff

They took the scenic route
Stopping in small towns here and there
Stayed for a week in Idaho with his sister
Helped his brother-in-law pour his new driveway

They're staying tonight in a casino hotel
40 feet from the ocean
He called tonight and held the phone out the window so I could hear it
The closest he's ever been to the ocean before was Lake Michigan
I'd almost call him 'giddy'

They'll probably make it to Portland tomorrow
They don't have anywhere to live yet
Just going to crash on couches or floors for now

I'm really worried about and happy for my little brother
